Imagine if your daily job required you to build tall towers with jumbo Legos. Envision your first morning meeting spent with co-workers making a house out of oversized magnetic building tiles. While it may sound far-fetched for grown-ups, this is the reality of Mrs. Julie’s Pre-K class thanks to her CARES request. Mrs. Julie utilized the CARES program offered through the Valle Catholic Schools Foundation, focused specifically on creating opportunities for Valle faculty to promote academic excellence. The granted request was made possible with the Academic Enrichment Fund, established through Ernest Flieg’s legacy gift via the Valle Catholic Schools Foundation.

Mrs. Julie chose these materials based on the ability for her students to have group collaboration and open-ended play which is vital for our littlest Warrior’s development. She went on to explain, “It has been fascinating to watch the children really come together and figure out how to build their visions with these blocks and magnets. The open-ended play also allows for our children to problem solve, use their spatial and reasoning skills, and understand cause and effect.” Most notably the biggest benefit from the addition of these materials is that it has increased a sense of community among the students.

Thank you to Mrs. Julie for requesting these resources to enhance excellence in her classroom. We cannot wait to see what creations the students think of next!
